E.S. Fox Limited was contracted by Kelson for the supply and install of all components associated with the Life Support Systems for the new Ripley’s Aquarium at the base of the CN Tower in Toronto. The Aquarium opened to the public in October 2013. Due to its location, deliveries of materials and equipment had to be meticulously coordinated as there was limited space for staging work.

Enwave Deep Lake Water Cooling

Client: Enwave District Energy Limited

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Trades: Mechanical, Electrical, Sheet Metal Workers, Boilermakers, Millwrights and Ironworkers (Subcontractors: Painters, Insulators and Labourers)

Engineer: Mulvaney and Banani

E.S. Fox Limited completed all three phases of this project. The first two phases were
executed in downtown Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre where 4700
tonne Chillers were installed to supply air conditioning to Enwave’s customer network in the area. The third phase involved construction of Enwave’s Chilled Water Loop routed primarily through the John Street Pumping Station where Fox installed 36 APV Heat Exchangers which represents the largest heat exchanger order ever placed.

Rainy River Project

Client: Newgold Inc.

Location: Emo, Ontario

Engineer: AMEC Foster Wheeler

The first project was for the supply and installation of structural steel and miscellaneous metals for a new industrial building at the site of the Rainy River Gold Mine near Emo, ON. We have also subcontracted cladding, roofing, grouting, metal deck, man doors, overhead doors and windows. Overall weight of structural steel was in excess of 6,000 tons, excluding miscellaneous metals. Additional work included the erection of fifteen (15) prefabricated structural steel frames c/w equipment, mechanical and electrical services in them. The second project (MPEI Contract 015 Crusher Building) involved the successful completion of all electrical and mechanical work associated with the grinding building including the installation of all major owner supplied equipment such as the Ball and Sag Mills, Pebble Crusher, Pre-Leach Thickener, Concentrator, Screens, Conveyor systems, Cyclopack, Transformers, MCC’s, Modular Electrical rooms, Intensive Cyanidization Unit (ICU), Process Pumps, Wet Scrubber Cyclone, and associated electrical works.

All Project Management, cost control, safety, scheduling and quality control was performed by the site project team and supported by our Thunder Bay and Niagara offices. This was a remote project that required an owner provided camp to accommodate the workforce. As there was no permanent power, ESFL had to supply and maintain generators and a temporary power grid for the offices, warehousing and worksite. Due to the remote location there were challenging communication issues as well as transportation and storage and deliveries of components which also posed challenges that were recognized and addressed.

Halton Hills Generating Systems Modular Utility Racks

Client: Aker Solutions

Engineer: Burns and McDonnell

E.S. Fox Limited fabricated approximately 1500 tons of structural steel for (10) piping/electrical modules which were erected at our dock facility in Port Robinson. These modules were completed with all supports, piping and electrical cable tray, then shipped to the Halton Hills jobsite where ESFL performed the installation.

ESFL also executed the complete field assembly of two Alstom manufactured heat recovery steam generators.

Cytec Canada Phosphine Plant Expansion

Client: Cytec Canada

E.S. Fox Limited was a Prime Contractor for the plant expansion at Cytec’s facility in Niagara Falls, which produces Phosphine and Phosphine derivative products for industrial, mining and agricultural applications. ESFL was awarded several contracts including Utility Racks, Thermal Oxidizer & Flare Building – Mechanical & Electrical Process Systems Installation, Phosphine / Compression – Mechanical & Electrical.

Under subcontract to Ellis Don, E.S. Fox Limited was the multi-trade contractor on the project responsible for the supply of all materials, labour, tools and equipment required to execute the complete installation of mechanical and electrical systems for the new Niagara Health and Bioscience Research facility at Brock University. The scope included all piping (registered & non-registered), sheet metal, HVAC, fire protection, insulation, lighting and power, data and communications, fire alarm, etc.
